Shot out of the window on a recent trip back from Pittsburgh. I was a bored passenger and decided to experiment a little. Came across a stretch of trees and thought a longer exposure would make an interesting photo. It's fairly drab, but I like the earthy tones it exhibits. Reminds me of some abstract art I've seen.

Yes. Usually from the time the launch day is announced to a month or two after it ships. In the past there has been a $10-20 media charge but if 10.7 ships via the app store I guess it will be free or some nominal amount like $1 to satisfy any accounting rules.

Ditto. :apple: Usually sets a timeframe, or Mac model that would have been released shortly before the next major OS upgrade. They do this to lure in developers to the newer version of they OS and to demonstrate to the press that the Mac community in majority have adopted the new release. Anything else is just marketing and supposed accounting. :)

No it is not and I dare you to prove me wrong!

   How old are you?

The majority of the creative class uses pcs period. Software titles like Autocad, 3d Studio Max, Rhino etc. don’t even exist for the mac.

Not sure about 3d Studio or Rhino, but pretty sure Autocad is for engineers, not traditionally considered creative because engineering is bound by rules and laws of materials and physics, ( although some can be very original).

I heard the iphone 5 is delayed because the HTC Sensation has sent Apple back to the drawing board.

    Spamming Fandroid.

I'm happier with a late 2011 release for iPhone 5.

Will be out of cash after buying MBA'11 and overseas holidays anyway ;)

I think getting a white backplate and keeping the black front is the best of both worlds. That white front looks ugly and disoriented with an obvious front cam and that black PS (looks like sharpie has been applied to the mesh grill original design), and when the screens off, looks even worse.

    I'll stick with mine :)

I think just the opposite is better. I like the white front but I think the white back is hideous.

why is paying less out of your pocket not a good thing? (unless i am reading you incorrectly...)

Paying less is not good. If you are a true Apple believer, you want to pay as much as possible so you can high five when Apple has record profits. It's not about the consumer, it's what's best for Apple.

How about a proto-telepathic interface?

I want an iPod that can read my mind...I'll bet Apple could do it

It can be done and is already being done. A receptor near the part of your brain that controls movement picks up where you want something to go (like a mouse pointer) Currently however there is a little disadvantage, because you need a pin through your skull to pick up the signals accuratly enough. However, there have been experiments with "stickers" on your skull, but this is less accuratly. Still, it should be well enough for an iPod Shuffle interface. And if they incorporate this in headphones, it should be possible.

    1. Power Supply through SplashPower. Similar to those toothbrushes and razors that charge through there plastics with magnetic fields.(strange they haven't updated there site since September 05...did Apple acquire them?)

It's not much to go on, but he gave someone a temporary majority in the most nonchalant manner I can think of. It's just a pet theory, but it's the best I got for now.

Let's just assume it's half music and half movies. That's roughly 142,000 songs and over 3000 movies. At .99 cents per song and $10 per movie, that's $170,000 if he paid for it. And he's complaining about $20 year. Hmmm....

Well, I don't know about this guy specifically. But I own over 20,000 vinyl records. Average 10 tracks each, that's 200,000 songs right there. Not to count at least that many 45's. A collection I've gathered over 50 years. Not to mention 78's, cylinders, etc.

Ever shopped a used music store? Movie store? Goodwill? I have thousands of movies myself, many of which I only paid a dollar or even less for.

I download hundreds of songs from emusic for about half the iTunes price.

It's pretty easy to amass a large collectiion without ever paying retail, and being completely legal.

I can't even begin to count the LP's that have been GIVEN to me over the years by people who went to CD and didn't want them anymore, taking up room. Literally station wagons full -- back when station wagons were HUGE. Cost? How about 0 cents per track, except the time spent playing them into the computer. And I'll be damned if I rebuy all the vinyl I bought through the 60's, 70's and 80's.

Ever have someone GIVE you a few hundred CD's because they're all now in their computer and ipod, and they don't want them taking up the room anymore? Sure, thats probably not legal, however, they made a copy and gave the originals away! It certainly wasn't a legal violation on my part! Are they supposed to put them in the trash? I suppose so.

Any idea how many CD's you can buy out there at 50 cents a pop at second hand stores and garage sales? Somehow, that's still legal!

I know I'm not the only one like me out here! Just saying... you're not considering the possibilities. And there's no way I would EVEr pay to stream my stuff from the internet (there is no "cloud")

    Sweet!

As long as Apple doesn't grow too fast, this is great news. Get to Gateway in the next few years, and I'll be happy. Just don't grow too big, Apple.

Catching up to Gateway is good, I suppose, but I seriously didn't even know they were even still around. That's a pretty low bar to set...

They sound good. I sat there for 30 min and compared these to the more expensive ones, and honestly I couldn't really tell the difference for the level I will be using them at.

I might still take them back and give the klipsch promedia 2.1 system a try.

It wouldn't be too difficult for Apple to provide something like Rosetta for iDevice apps. It sounds extremely un-apple though. The only reason Apple provided Rosetta was to ease the PowerPC-Intel transition. I don't think there is any real benefit here because many iDevice apps would not translate well to a mouse and keyboard. It's possible that new iOS apps would have a "mac mode" that would solve this, so who knows.

What's the need? You could simply compile for x86/x64 and make it universal. XCode already provides an iPhone/iPad simulator to test apps on the Mac.

Whether that would be desirable in any form or way is a different question, and I agree that the UI of iOS apps doesn't work all that well with the keyboard+mouse paradigm.

What would be easy to accomplish would be making universal apps that combine the iPhone, iPad and Mac version in one app bundle. Say, download "OmniFocus Universal", which starts the Mac version on the Mac, the iPad version on iPad, the iPhone version on iPhone/iPod touch. Would only make sense when combining Mac App Store and iOS App Store someway while keeping the syncing of the iOS devices in iTunes.

"A colleague of mine just picked up a 16 GB iPhone 4 in white. I was a bit surprised when I picked it up off his desk (I had my black 32 GB in my other hand at the same time) it immediately felt thicker."

    LOL, that's absolutely ridiculous.

Also, why is everyone feeling so sorry for the case makers...like Apple is screwing them over? It's not their responsibility to cater to the case makers.

I completely agree. No one can pick something up and "immediately" tell that it's 0.25 mm thicker than another object. I call BS.

That sounds like a very solid business decisions. I predict Apple making billions with that move.

    Where are these figures?

    Aaaand in 3 ... 2 ... 1:

    REALITY CHECK.

This is why I posted my comment correcting your innaccurate assumption that "the iPod is still Apple's cash cow".

The funny part is that I was in no way "defending" the iPod, since I don't have one at the moment and was just as annoyed at Apple as everyone else that Macs were not centerstage... in '04 and '05.

We're rounding out '06 and that argument hasn't held water since last year.

It's been ALL about Mac in '06

well, im only 17 and .223 is just to expensive for me to shoot...

and I dont know why I like the sig so much, I was at gander mountain the other day, and was feeling out all of the other .22's and it just feels the best to me...

it's going to be ether the sig, or the smith and wesson M&P 15-22. that is a nice gun also...

The .223 is pretty cheap to shoot if you buy bulk ammo. You can get 500 rounds for less than $150.
