Sorry to burst everyone's bubble... but I don't believe this is a US phone. My iPhone 3gs has been on t-mobile for almost 2 years now... ...because that's the standard carrier in the Netherlands...

The +1 before the phone number definitely lends to the probability that it's intended for foreign use.

I can send a screenshot of both my and my gf's phones that clearly say: T-Mobile 3G on them... :D

No thanks, lol, you can put pics of your girlfriend though, to prove that she is from Netherlands

I like your idea and I think it would work in many situations if there is indeed going to be a "transition phase" toward a new type of connection format. However, I'll stick by my prediction as it offers the maximum benefit for Apple and its third party partners while keeping the whole user interaction simpler and more elegant. The Nike situation is different in the respect that it is really the only way to make a product like that workcan't have a bunch of wires getting in the way of running. I know the iPod Hi-Fi probably isn't selling well enough for Apple to worry that a new connection format would hurt their own profit margin much, but there are a LOT of third party partners out there that have only recently given it their best because Apple has probably assured them that the dock connector will be around for quite some time, so third party R&D won't be a black hole or recurring expense in that area. It is what has helped the accessory market evolve to the point it has, which has benefitted Apple immensly-don't think Apple doesn't realize that fact! It is also what is missing from the also-ran MP3 manufacturers: not enough consistency to make it worth their investment to produce for those products.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Of course, it COULD have both....

    how about

a 30 $ optional wireless receiver that acts as a female dock connector to plug into the existing iPod docks?

I could care less what the microsoft's EULA agreement says. If I'm able to install it I could care less if it is illegal. As long as it is only on one computer then I'm doing it. And they wonder why people pirate their software...

4200rpm is dog-slow. Go for the 5400rpm drive and use the money you saved for a nice big FW800 external HDD.

Kinda pissed that I just bought 2 external FW400 drives 2 weeks ago. Hesitated on the FW800 but I didn't see myself buying the 17". Today I got the new C2D and it comes with FW800. Grrr....:(

I don't have a blu-ray player and have no plans on buying one. I also don't have an HD TV, still using a 10+ year old Sony Trinitron. It's not broke so it's not getting replaced till it is.

I buy all my TV shows on iTunes in HD and watch them on my 15" MBP.

Even if Amazon has 69 cent songs, I I will likely continue buying on iTunes. Over the past year, most music has been purchased on my iPhone while I am out. Can't do that with Amazon.

You aren't the audience I was addressing though, naturally...

I'm sure Apple will be heartbroken that you won't be gobbling resources without paying.

    If it's worth anything, it's worth $20/year.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a loss leader nor would I be surprised if different retailers had different costs associated with the products they sell. The local gas station, Wal-mart, and Costco typically don't pay the same price for the products they sell and I don't see why the online retail game would be any different.

    Lethal

Very trust. Often times gas stations from playes like Wal-mart, costco and grocery stories run at a loss. The gas station does not generated any profit for the store in gas sells but does tend to bring more people to the store making up the difference and then some.

From working in a grocery store gas station I worked at I can tell you where we got gas from was from the big name gas companies like Exxon, Phillips 66, and Chevron. Chevron being the most common receipt I saw. Also can tell you that at most the only difference between brands is additives added at the terminals were they fill up the full trucks. The gas could of originally been made by any refinery and put in the pipe line. They do not normally get out the same product they put into it and that is from my knowledge from the oil industry and family working in it.

I love the design of the iPhone 4 and love the screen. Why not just go with a Mac-like update routine, where you throw in a newer, faster processor as soon as one is available? The yearly iPhone reveal may be great for media coverage, but it's unrealistic when the Android gang releases a new device every 7 hours.

    [QUOTE=wmk461;4858295]

WELL SAID WMK!!! - I most agree with the fact that the RETARID amount of money bush has spent has caused the decline in faith of the dollar!
I'd also like to add that Apple is by no means the biggest loser in this current stock slide and will come back. google lost $200 a share! so, they'll all come back it's all about confidence in the US not what was released at MW.

Actually, the US Dollar is declining due to the Fed interest rate cuts.
Congress controls spending, not the President.
More to do with paranoid, small-time, inexperienced investors, than anything else.

BMW and their idrive, ford and the firestone blowouts, apple and hearing loss... while dont people stop being jealous and peee off.

How is that different from how Apple "acquired" iOS and OS X ? Yet no one is going to claim Apple didn't build those 2 OSes.

Again, some of you guys need to put the Google hate to rest. This is not the thread for it and to diminish their efforts on Chrome OS and Android is to do the same to OS X since the histories and origins are similar (acquisitions and open source projects).

And I will not stand by anyone who does that to Apple's efforts with OS X.

Google bought Android and with Schmidt on the Apple board hoovering up ideas from the iPhone, Android became what it is today.

Anybody who refutes that is either blind or stupid.

I loathe Google for their Microsoft-esque lack of imagination, just as much as I loathe Samsung and their utterly lazy attempt at R&D for their Galaxy S smartphones, the logic of which equates to:

iPhone 3GS design + we like it + let's copy it + bigger screen + cheap imitation look = Galaxy S.

iPhone 4 design + we like it + let's copy it + bigger screen + cheap imitation look = Galaxy S2.

Again, anybody who cannot see the obvious similarities is either blind or stupid.

My apps all seem to be showing it (search Anthony Wardley on iTunes to see). They are finance and Australian Tax apps, some universal, some iPhone only so there doesn't seem to be a pattern (maybe all iOS 3.0 +???).

    Weird...

But to answer your question, even if there were a legal restriction, there is definitely not any technical restriction that would prevent it from being installed in a VM anywhere.

What about Vista Authorization/Activation/Validation (whatever it's called).

You know, its the internet/telephone grovelling-for-permission-to-use-the-software part that comes after you've paid the latest installment of the Bill Gates friendship dues ... uh, I mean: purchased the new product.

Drive arrays can easily exceed 10 Gbps - today a 2 drive RAID 0 array can hit 10 Gbps.

Single drives faster than TBolt already exist - 12 Mbps SSD drive (http://www.fusionio.com/products/iodriveduo/).

TBolt devices haven't even hit the market, but TBolt is already too slow for many uses.

    12Mbps? you sure you didn't mean 1.5GBs?

Huh, I notice "Wireless keyboard and mouse" is no longer an option for BTO iMac... thats odd. You'd think they'd at least keep the regular bluetooth mouse there until they figure out what to charge for the BTO bluetooth MM.

    Nano. Like, obviously.

Seems like everyone forgot about the somewhat recent rumors about a smaller iphone. (Ok, just kidding.)

Maybe apple wants the rumor mill to get up to speed as they want to introduce anything but nobody got a hint or has a clue yet. Total disclosure is bad, but no rumors is even worse.

I can say that when Parallels has its VM Flags set to VM Cache as the primary caching logic, its disk speed is near native, but OS X apps slow down dramatically. Change that to Mac OS X primary caching logic and the VM's disk access slows down noticeably, but not horribly.

How to do such changes? Thanks.

Can someone just post a damn changelog? Honestly... I don't want to have to reinstall DP2 over SL to find out if 2011 MBP GFX issues were fixed (screen savers, display blockiness, etc.).

You do know everyone who has a changelog is under NDA, don't you? Why don't you just go look at the change log?

I got my MBP early so now I would love to get a monitor to bump up the resolution. I'm really liking the HPs monitors right now, so I'd like one of those.

    http://www.tech2online.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/HP-2010i-2210m-2310m-and-2710m-LCD-Displays.jpg

I won't get that though as the MBP was my Christmas present. Tempted to buy one of those monitors when I get money from my relatives, so it'll be like a joint present from them...

The audience here are the most toughest critics, but general public will appreciate the changes.
I personally see nothing wrong with making software look like a real thing. It's one of the most natural user interfaces because people know how to use books, paper, and folder tabs.

The problem with making iCal look like the real thing (in this case a leather bound calendar) is that brown leather bound calendars are hideous!

I can't believe that the same company that hires Jonathan Ives to design such sleek, 60s modern hardware, can show such incredibly "bling" taste on the GUI design front.

    No offense though, please. YMMV.
